Relational Discipleship church small groups Jacksonville NC

A message from Robert

In Acts Chapter 2:42-47, we get a picture of how the first church lived out the Great Commission given to us in Matthew 28. Relational discipleship seeks to make disciples who make disciples the same way Jesus did: through forming relationships in the community God has us in and inviting those we come in contact with into Christian community to form more relationships with other believers. Through fellowship and the study of God’s word, we seek to provide a relational environment where people outside the church feel welcome to come as they are and end up leaving behind who they were as they are supported, encouraged, and provided accountability and friendship.

Our prayer at Trinity is that, as we begin this journey of relational discipleship, the Lord would bless it in the same way He blessed the first church recorded in the Scriptures; that as we live out authentic Christian lives in our community, others would notice and be moved by the way Christians are willing to openly and honestly share their lives with others, and that in doing so, God would add to our numbers day by day those who are being saved.

We ask that you join us in this prayer. Between now and October, please join us in praying that God would move in the hearts of our church family and help them see the importance and priority of small groups. That we would see ourselves individually as the church and not as the building we gather in, and that the church would take seriously the command we were given to “Go therefore and make disciples” as we prepare to move into our community and do life together the way the early church did.

Come as you are, leave behind who you were. Community changes everything!

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” - Acts 2:42-47
